Sandwiched in-between the start of Mars retrograde and the Solar Eclipse next week, right now, the pressure is on.
Mid-week in America, some acknowledge the fourth of July: a day to celebrate “freedom” and “independence.” This year, this holiday has an ironic place in the middle of a Mars retrograde which speaks to how we assert our will (which America certainly knows how to do, for better or for worse) and that asks us to reassess and re-prioritize how we have been acting out our values (hello, detention center uproar).
This week, as the fireworks rain down, you may identify with their explosive, spontaneous and expressive nature. Everyone can feel that the pressure is building, and by Thursday it will be tempting to implode, but this week, it is important to pull back.
Cancer season is all about calculation and getting right within before you try to understand or influence what is going on around you.

Cancer
A special Solar Eclipse in your sign is coming up next week, do you feel it? It may feel like the preliminary boil before the kettle screeches, or you maybe you’ve already been whaling. Either way, now is not the time to ignore what your urges are trying to tell you. The solar eclipse will be a big release, but to avoid it manifesting as an uncontrolled outburst, you must become clear about what isn’t sitting right with you. Sometimes, your waves of emotion carry all of the trash from the shore back with them and you end up taking on what isn’t truly yours. This week, take the time to sort through what you’ve been holding and make sure what you’re carrying is your burden to bear, and throw out the rest. Then, you can begin the process of true healing and reconciliation you so need and deserve.
Leo
(July 23-Aug. 22)
Mercury is now in your sign and may have you feeling head-y. This paired with the Mars retrograde in your house of relationships may put your focus on all of the wrong things. Whether or not you want to, whatever you give attention to you also give some of your precious energy. This week, don’t get caught up in spending too much time scrolling through, thinking or talking about people who have wronged you, whether it be romantic exes, ex colleagues or ex best friends. Simply thank them for showing you who they really are and for the energy they give you with the time they spend worrying about you and your life and move on. Whatever you water will grow. Remain in a space of gratitude and watch where you put your focus and this season could change everything for you.
Virgo
(Aug. 23-Sept. 22)
Your ruling planet opposite retrograding Mercury is one of the only major transits for this week. It may feel like all of the tension is targeting you and that everything you say and do is under scrutiny or doesn’t feel good enough. Combat the negative effects of this transit by engaging with it in productive ways. Got something to say to someone that you’ve been holding onto? Been itching for a collaboration or to cut ties with someone who drains your energy? You won’t be able to tolerate the suppression of these things any longer and you shouldn’t have to. This week is not about holding your tongue, it’s about making sure your delivery matches your intention. Speak your truth with kindness, compassion and the intention to connect instead of conflict and this week will completely rearrange your life and relationships in the ways you need to move you forward, fast.
Libra
(Sept. 23-Oct. 22)
As the sign represented by the scales, your emotions, thoughts and motivation often acts like a pendulum, and it is very important to make sure you don’t swing too far to one side or the other, this week. Mars retrograde in a fellow air sign may make you feel strongly about everything, and your reactions and inclinations may feel like they lie on either end of the spectrum of extremes. This week, it is important for you to find your balance by always seeking perspective. If you have been letting other people’s bad behavior slide it will be important to get to the root of why before you blow up on them for what they perceive to be is “out of the blue.” What is your motivation behind letting behaviours you don’t agree with go on for so long? How would you prefer to relate to that person or situation? And what does that look like for how you behave in response, starting now? This week, ask some deeper questions so that you can get deeper answers. Bring up whatever you wish to work on so that whatever needs to be washed away in the storm of eclipse season is gone for good.
Scorpio
(Oct. 23-Nov. 21)
The Sun in Cancer zaps an extra volt of energy into Jupiter in your first house, this week, and can give you a dose of the super-strength you’ve been needing. The catch is, you must take advantage of the energy with action, and this action must align with who you are. How often do you do things because you think you should or because someone told you it was the “right” or “professional” way to do it? How many times a month do you throw caution to the wind and take creative risks in your life? If the answer is “almost never” it’s definitely time you start scheduling some in. It’s the first week of a brand new month that marks the halfway point in the calendar year. Use your time and energy very wisely now. This is the time that determines whether what you accomplish for yourself this year will “meet,” “exceed,” or “fail” the universe’s expectation of you to thrive in ways that are meaningful to you.
Sagittarius
(Nov. 22-Dec. 21)
Your ruling planet gets a jolt of energy from the Sun in Cancer this week and you may feel more intuitive and energized than ever, if you’re taking care of your body and paying attention to your feelings, that is. The problem with water transits that work in your favor is that they can be easily missed if you are unwilling to slow down enough to listen. This week, I challenge you to adopt a morning practice of simply listening when you ask yourself and your body these questions: How is my mind feeling today? How do I feel when I pay attention to my breath? What topics or tasks am I inclined to focus on? What touch, sounds, feelings and foods would feel satisfying to me? And then, follow these inclinations. Let yourself live in a space of intuitive alignment, always feeling into the moment before making your next move. You can do almost anything for a week. Try this out and see how it changes things for you in life, love, business and beyond.
Capricorn
(Dec. 22-Jan. 19)
While the tension of this week may feel tough for everyone else, you may feel better than ever. As a sign ruled by Saturn, pressure is something you know how to handle. So, take a week off from learning lessons and constantly checking yourself and your growth and lean into a space of play and pleasure. The Sun in your house of relationships is lit up by a trine to Jupiter, this week. Questioning what lights you up and turns you on and what makes you feel light and bubbly in your body will help you to find your way to what you should be gravitating towards, now. If you choose to put your nose to the grindstone, great work my come out of it, but you will have missed a chance to let your hair down and indulge in your sensuality and the bodily sensations that make you human. Right now, try to prioritize happiness and connection. Choose to be instead of do and permit yourself some space to play.
Aquarius
(Jan. 20-Feb.18)
Retrograding Mars in your first house may be a serious bummer, or a huge opportunity. Mars in your sign usually means some extra stamina and energy to be used for starting or finishing whatever you please. A retrograde is just a reminder to stop and reflect before you act. What have you been giving all of your energy to lately (mental, emotional, physical, artistic, etc)? Do these things deserve your energy? How can you conserve more of your energy for yourself? How can you use more of your energy to help others (who deserve it)? Use this week as a reflective period before Eclipse season really sets in. There is lots to be done, seen and felt, but none of it matters if you can’t be present with how it affects you. Get real about what, and who, needs to be trimmed from your life and where it would serve you to at least pull back. Soon, opportunities will come that you will want your full energy for. Plan ahead by being honest with yourself now.
Pisces
(Feb.19-March 20)
You have a long-held reputation of being the caring one. You are an emotionally rich being and you can spot someone in need from a mile away. But this week, it will be best to just let it all be. What would happen if, for now, you decided to let your deep desires drive you instead of your need to be of assistance? What if you practiced just saying “no”? An important lesson for us all to learn is our place in the world around us. Your place is not relegated to what other people or the world at large needs from you. Engage more deeply with what drives you than with anybody else’s needs or requests, this week. For the first part of each day, turn off your phone and just ask yourself “What do I want out of the day I have before me? Give yourself something to look forward to and let the rest of the day unfold in support of what you ask for. This is your life, Pisces. It’s okay to act like it!
Aries
(March 21-April 19)
By nature you are a hurricane of power and force that can make other people both follow and fear you. But, this Mars retrograde may take a little bit of the wind from your sails. If it does, that means that it is time to try new things in order to get new results. You may not be known for your vulnerability and softness but that doesn’t mean that these ways of being do not exist or that they are not useful for you and what you want to accomplish. This week, try falling back and allowing others to rise to the occasion of taking care of and getting to know you. Try revealing a different side of who you are. Convey not only what you have to offer but what you may want to receive. Your active energy serves you well, most of the time. But, this week, try standing on the side of reception.
Taurus
(April 20-May 20)
Sometimes you prefer to opt for what’s easy and not for what’s best, even when what’s best will benefit you more in the long run. This week, your short-term fixes won’t stand. Eclipse season is coming and it is a potent time to be receiving what you’re asking for. You ask for things every time you make a decision, have a thought or say a word. Just this week, try to be hyper-intentional and vigilant in all of these areas. “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion” is a truth that is as annoying as it is true but it’s time to get into motion, Taurus. Write a list of all of the things, or vision board about, what you want to accomplish in the next six months as motivation to get moving. From there it’s all maintenance and keeping the momentum. Make sure you’re taking care of your basic needs, but do it while you shoot for the stars. If you needed "a sign" to start something, this is it. There is no better time than now.
Gemini
(May 21-June 21)
Your ruling planet has moved into your third house and is ignited by the fiery sign it resides in. Keep paper and pen with you everywhere you go and make sure you are getting out and about, now. You’ve celebrated your new year, thought about what you might want to do with the time you have until your next one and now is the time to find the environments, people and practices that will help you maximize the potential of your plans. It is important to think outside of the box and pave a new path for yourself, now. Put yourself out there in new ways, this week. Visit art museums, lectures and parties. Take on the role of the observer. Something new is brewing. Take a good look at all that you are doing and find the pockets that could use some innovation. You’re a Gemini. Everyday is your day to make something new. Get the ball rolling before Mercury Rx hits and it’s time to take a break.
